Christ’s own use of the word “kind” is a testament of Type 2 kindness. Which, surprisingly, for all the kindness we attribute to Christ, when it came to teaching, Christ only used the word “kind” once during his ministry.
Luke 6:35
35 But love ye your enemies, and do good, and lend, hoping for nothing again; and your reward shall be great, and ye shall be the children of the Highest: for he is kind unto the unthankful and to the evil.
Isn’t that interesting. When Jesus decided to use the word kind, he used it to describe how God interacts with people who are evil and unthankful. This should make you pause and think about God’s concept of kindness – Is its focus to provide comfort, or is its focus to enable potential.
